Busy-ness as Usual

Been a busy week and a busy day. Kept up all night by a fucking car alarm (police won’t get involved, they just want to arrest anyone upsetting the rich & royals), I had to get my biometrics taken again for my residency on these blighted isles this morning and I managed to finally see the new Trek movie this afternoon, so only now am I remembering to do the blog.

I’ve talked about how incredibly stupid people can be & the damage they’ve caused, so maybe it’s time to talk about possible solutions.
Announcer’s voice: “Is there a cure for dumbassery? Find out on the next Diogenesis!”

All that and great music too!

Tune in to KMRL Mojo Radio Live at 6:00pm Eastern/3:00pm Pacific in the US, which is 11:00pm in the UK & midnight in Western Europe, to hear all this and more. Much Ado about Something

The Bard’s B’Day was this week and it got me thinking about poetry, art, language and music. I’ve spent years trying to figure out how and why music affects us so strongly. Without using drugs, there are only two ways to achieve instant ecstasy, sex and music. The pleasure behind sex is widely understood, but music? How can sounds, mere vibrations in the air tickling tiny membranes in the head, cause such pleasure? I’ve got a few new theories about it that I’ll be discussing on tonight’s show as I play some of the sweetest tunes from across decades, genres and maybe even dimensions.

Ale Britania

I’m going to my first British Ale festival this evening, BEXHILL’S very own Ale & Arty Beer & Music Festival , and am unsure as to what time I’ll be back. Tonight’s show will be all about the festival, the ale, the art and most especially the music. I’ll be interviewing some of the locals for your entertainment as well. Hopefully I’ll be back in time to go on the air at 6pm Eastern in the US (which, with the changing clocks is now 10pm in the UK), but I may be late, so expect me to start anywhere from 6pm to 9pm Eastern time (which is 3pm to 6pm Pacific in the US, 10pm to 1am in the UK, and 11pm to 2am in Western Europe). It’ll be a two to three hour show, regardless of exactly what time I start broadcasting.

I’ll keep everyone posted as I know the details. I was going to try to broadcast live from the festival, but there are too many confusing, convoluted contrived apps involved.

Tune in to KMRL Mojo Radio Live to hear all this and more. While you’re at it, come into the KMRL Chatroom and let me know what you think, or to just say hi. Mad Dogs and Englishmen

I’ve never understood the phrase “Mad dogs and Englishmen”. It’s my understanding that mad dogs are clearly mad, foaming at the mouth and to a certain extent avoidable, whereas English-persons are, to all outward appearances, sane and reasonable. It’s not until you get within biting distance that they show their true madness… do mad dogs appear calm, happy, even cuddly until given the opportunity to ravage you? Chimps, our closest living relative, can be like that. Turning vicious at the slightest provocation, but even they show warning signs in advance (like the fact that they are chimps and will eat your fucking face if you get in their way).

Humans are duplicitous creatures, vicious and violent in every way, not just physically and emotionally, when given half the chance, and often for no apparent reason. The only creatures I can think of who come even close are predators who will lay in wait for their prey to come within striking distance, often camouflaging themselves as something completely innocuous. But at least non-human predators go to such lengths to eat. What is our excuse?

The petty, local politics in this part of England have been reaching strange crescendos, lies flying, obvious lies sailing, and bullshit raining down upon the rabble, leaving the working classes drowning in fear and confusion. So afraid and confused are they, that they dare not even question why they are now wallowing in shit, as those whose putrid diarrhea overwhelms them, convince them that they themselves are to blame. Smiling thieves offer them shiny dreams as they steal their future.
And oh, the fucking SMILES that I have seen… the creepy, insidious smiles of managers and politicians as they promise ever fainter, ever more transparent fantasies.

I’ll be talking about all of that, and more on this evening’s show, as well as playing the greatest music from across generations and genres!

Gordon is a Moron

No, I’m not talking about that slimebag Brown, the dumbass bully Ramsay, or even the crooner Lightfoot. I’m talking about...well, that would be telling, wouldn’t it?

I’m going to be talking about England tonight. My experiences here so far, the insanity that I’ve dealt with, the corruption of the unions, the imbecility of the local council, the incompetence of civil service management, the greed and foolishness of the immigration service, the poisonous dishonesty of the corporations, the vicious greed of the politicians, the general apathy of the populace, and the lies, prevarications, broken promises, prejudices, and downright meanness that I’ve had to deal with professionally on an almost daily basis since I got here. I’ll also talk about some of the brighter spots, but that’s generally been in the form of one or two cool or decent people that I’ve come across who were powerless to halt my screaming decent into madness, well… maybe not madness as much as bitterness, disappointment and rage.

I’ll also be giving a heads up on how Heather’s plunge into an icy lake to raise money for Alzheimer’s turned out, in between playing great music from across generations and genres.

Divide and Conquer

The actual quote was “divide et empera” (divide and rule), but two millennia on it’s still going strong and why not? It obviously works.

At a time when we need more than ever to stick together, we’re being divided by prejudice, paranoia, ignorance, idiocy and inane ideologies. Misinformation has become the basis of propaganda, infiltration the primary tool of the police state and misdirection the hat trick of the government. If you think your tax problems are caused by welfare cheats & disability scroungers, your low wages, job insecurity and shrinking pensions caused by unions, immigrants & minorities, or that spiraling societal problems, growing fear and insecurity are caused by gays, strong women, outsiders or any number of others, then you’ve been beaten already. You’ve been conquered and enslaved, but you don’t even know it, and you have no hope of escape since you’re just dragging more people into your prison instead of banding together in order to break down the walls.

That’s what I’ll be talking about on this evening’s show, in between playing great music from across generations and genres.

The Not-So Subtle Difference Between Symbiotes and Parasites

A.k.a. When bowing down becomes bending over.

Another highly eventful, stressful twisted week, wreaking woe, wrath and weakness here on the blighted isles.  As the scion of royal parasites breeds yet another idle, inept, ineffectually dysfunctional drain on an already doomed world, getting the best healthcare and treatment money can buy, I’ve seen hard working people with little or nothing forgo offspring simply because they’ve done everything right, and so what very little they have makes them ineligible for any assistance or tax breaks. I’ve seen Old Age Pensioners with no heat trying desperately to keep warm in the freezing cold, pregnant women struggling to keep their jobs as they are forced to wait for hours in ques for minimal obstetric care, hard working men and women watching their benefits, their pensions, their way of life and their very homes slipping through their fingers in the name of austerity and budget cuts that actually just go to helping wealthy criminals keep what they have stolen.

Then there’s the poor nurse, who, while being forced by those same budget cuts to care for increasing numbers of patients, was forced as well, in the name of ‘cost savings’, to act as a telephone receptionist in the midst of an already stressful and busy job. Her only crime was being fooled into passing on a phone call, and she was so shamed by this minor infraction against an already pompous and overinflated family, that she took her own life, leaving behind a shattered family and heartbroken children.

Who are these Royals, that they should be given such admiration and respect, that they should take so much for granted and live in such opulent extravagance, while the majority barely survive with so little? What exactly do they contribute to this society other than mild entertainment (and I use that word loosely), that could be just as well provided by yet another Masterpiece Theatre Soap Opera? They certainly do not provide any sort of political or governmental leadership, nor do they, in the midst of this manufactured financial crisis, provide any economic or even moral leadership. A symbiotic relationship would require that they provide society, in one way or another, an equal benefit to that which they enjoy, which they simply do not. That would, by any definition, make them mere parasites, to be fumigated and expunged!

Meanwhile, so many anniversaries of atrocity arrive and pass, from Pearl Harbor on 7 December, to the assassination of John Lennon on 8 December, and the Massacres of Kalavryta & Nanking on 5 December & 19 December respectively, as well as untold others far too numerous to enumerate, demanding acknowledgement.

I am well tired and frustrated. I feel like the real me is in a tiny cage inside my head, running around in circles, frantically bashing against the bars in every direction and shouting, shrieking with increasing vehemence and futility because no one can hear me. I feel as though I have no mouth, but I must scream…

On this evening’s show I’ll be talking about all of that and much, much more. As usual I’ll also be playing music from across generations and genres, with a bit John Lennon to spice up the mix and fuel the memories.
