Gene-Manuel, First KMRL Featured Artist
And what a great first artist he is!I first ran across Gene-Manuel on MySpace and was instantly intrigued with the title “Sophisticated Kink.” I like sophistication, sophistication is something most people don’t look for these days.
Contact was made and I received a CD and a presskit, both of which impressed me. Well put together and informative, I was won over before I put the CD in.
After listening to “Sophisticated Kink” my first response was ‘wow.’ I sat and listened to the entire CD without jumping past one song. This is unusual for me, even my regular bands get a skipped track or two.
This guy has talent. Serious talent. Each and every song is different, I heard traces of bands I love dearly - Moody Blues, Erasure - but it was very much his own sound! Unique and engaging, I immediately added the entire CD to my personal playlist and my favourite three to the station rotation.
The other night in the chat room during my show, Gene-Manuel came in to say hello and only added to the great impression I already had of him. Not only is he a brilliant musician who’s won over all the DJs with his song, he’s a nice guy!
I can’t recommend Gene-Manuel’s CD enough, go out and buy this CD! Go to his website or MySpace page and get to know the man behind the sound. KMRL is proud to play Gene-Manuel’s music and call him a friend!
